HISTORY
The Maybach 57S is one of the most ambitious luxury sedans ever built—a modern expression of opulence, exclusivity, and engineering excellence. Revived under Daimler-Benz in the early 2000s, the Maybach brand was positioned above even Mercedes-Benz’s flagship S-Class, directly targeting the likes of Rolls-Royce and Bentley with a philosophy rooted not just in luxury, but in tailored automotive craftsmanship.
The “57” refers to the car’s length in decimetres (5.7 meters), while the “S” stands for Special—and special it is. Introduced in 2005, the Maybach 57S took the already sumptuous 57 and transformed it into a more performance-oriented and driver-focused limousine, aimed at owners who preferred to sit behind the wheel rather than behind the privacy screen.
Under the hood lies a hand-built 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine developed by AMG, producing a staggering 612 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of torque—figures that remain impressive even by today’s standards. The 57S could accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in around 5 seconds, a feat for a car of its size and weight. Yet it did so in near-total silence, with unmatched smoothness and composure. It’s a car that blends the brutality of a supercar with the serenity of a spa.
What truly sets the Maybach 57S apart is its uncompromising attention to detail. Every surface inside is trimmed in the finest leathers, exotic woods, and polished metals. Rear passengers enjoy reclining seats, champagne flutes, refrigerators, rear entertainment systems, and optional privacy curtains—all executed with understated perfection. The build quality and refinement surpass even the most luxurious Mercedes models, because each Maybach was essentially hand-assembled to order in the Sindelfingen facility.
In terms of rarity, the Maybach brand was always exclusive by design. Production of the 57S ran from 2005 to 2012, and only around 1,000 units of the 57S were ever built worldwide.
From a collector’s standpoint, the Maybach 57S is quickly gaining traction. For years, it flew under the radar, overshadowed by flashier names. But as the last truly bespoke German ultra-luxury sedan—and one of the last with a V12 developed before hybridization—it represents the end of an era. Collectors now see it as a future classic: a car that dared to do luxury differently, with no compromises.
OUR 57S
Our example is a one-owner car, delivered new to its current caretaker in Croatia, a noted collector. The car was specified in the elegant and refreshing color combination of Baltic Black with a Beige Exclusive Leather interior and carbon fiber trim. Equipped with some of the most desirable options as listed below, the car was serviced every year by Mercedes-Benz official workshops, and only shows just over 42,000km today. Presented in almost-new condition, the Maybach is now looking for its second caretaker who will be able to appreciate a level of luxury that is rare to be found nowadays.
Available for viewing at our showroom in Munich on appointment.
