The SL70 AMG was a rare creation even when new, built in extremely limited numbers by AMG prior to its official merger with Mercedes-Benz. Based on the R129 SL Convertible, arguably one of Bruno Sacco’s most accomplished creations at Mercedes-Benz, AMG installed the monstrous 7.0-liter version of the M120 V12, a close cousin of the engine later used in the legendary Pagani Zonda.
Only 150 units ever produced worldwide, the SL70 combined contemporary supercar defying performance, thanks to the near 500 bhp available, and GT levels of comfort and build quality.
Each SL70 AMG received unique mechanical upgrades, subtle exterior styling cues (including AMG bumpers, wheels, and badging), and a host of luxury appointments inside. With AMG’s focus on craftsmanship and performance, this car delivers a unique blend of exclusivity, analogue driving experience, and brute power.

The car remained in Japan until 2017 when it returned to its native Germany and was registered with a collector in Western Germany.
In 2022 it passed into the current ownership with 29,925 km showing on the odometer. The current owner has a large collection specialised in post-war Mercedes-Benz and this car has formed part of his private museum display.
