HISTORY

The Lamborghini Diablo, introduced in 1990 as the successor to the legendary Countach, marked a new era for the Sant’Agata Bolognese brand. Named after a famous fighting bull, the Diablo was the first Lamborghini capable of surpassing 200 mph, cementing its reputation as one of the most dramatic supercars of the 1990s. Over its production span, the Diablo evolved through several iterations, gradually refining its performance, design, and usability while never losing its raw Italian character.

A pivotal moment in the model’s history came in 1998, when Lamborghini was acquired by Audi AG. Under Audi’s stewardship, the Diablo received its most significant update, culminating in the Diablo 6.0 VT, launched in 2000. Unlike earlier versions, the 6.0 VT was extensively re-engineered with Audi’s input. It featured revised bodywork with sharper, more modern lines designed by Luc Donckerwolke, who would later go on to shape the Murciélago and Gallardo. The car also benefitted from improved build quality and greater reliability — hallmarks of Audi’s influence — without compromising Lamborghini’s distinctive flair.

At its heart, the Diablo 6.0 VT carried a 6.0-liter naturally aspirated V12, producing around 550 horsepower, paired with all-wheel drive (in the VT) or rear-wheel drive (in the 6.0). The interior was also redesigned, offering a more driver-focused and higher-quality cabin, signaling Lamborghini’s shift toward a more refined yet still extreme supercar experience.

The Diablo 6.0 VT thus represents both the final chapter of the Diablo lineage and the beginning of a new era for Lamborghini. It bridged the raw, unfiltered spirit of the brand’s past with the precision and engineering standards that would define its future under Audi. Today, it stands as one of the rarest and most desirable variants of the Diablo, cherished by collectors as the last great naturally aspirated V12 Lamborghini developed before the introduction of the Murciélago.

our Diablo 6.0 VT

Our Diablo 6.0 VT was originally delivered in July 2001 through the Italian dealer Touring Auto S.R.L., finished in the stunning and sinister color combination of black over black. After spending some time in Tenerife, the car was acquired by its current German owner and subsequently imported to Germany. Upon arrival, the Diablo was entrusted to Lamborghini Chemnitz, who carried out a comprehensive service in April 2024 at 32,571 km.
