Unlike the later Targa models with a fixed glass roof, the Soft Window Targa features a removable soft rear window, which provides a traditional Targa silhouette while allowing for partial open-top driving.
The soft-window Targa was produced during a transitional period for the 911 range, making it relatively rare compared to standard coupes and glass-roof Targas. Its design retains the roll-over protection bar characteristic of the Targa line, while the soft window reduces weight and preserves the classic driving feel that Porsche intended for open-air models. Around 521 were built in total for the whole world.
OUR EXAMPLE
The car found its way to the United States and later in its life, was registered in Washington. In 1998, the car was purchased by somebody from the Netherlands and taken to Europe, where it was sold in 2003 to the current German owner. During 22 years in his ownership, plenty has been invested in the 911 as can be seen from the large history file full of invoices and pictures.
During its time in Germany, the 911S has been routinely serviced, the rust present from its previous time in the USA has been professionally repaired and thus the car now presents in rust-free condition, still finished in its patinated original color of Irish Green. Having never been restored, the Targa is in authentic, original condition.
Available now exclusively through Schaltkulisse, the Targa Soft Window is one of the most desirable F-Models in existence, having only been produced in very limited numbers. We think Irish Green in particular is a color that suits the car’s character.
