The Ferrari F355 was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in 1994 and 11,273 examples were built before production ended in 1999. The 3,495cc V8 engine (5V F129 B/C) had a 5-valve cylinder head and developed 375 horsepower (380 PS) at 8,250 RPM and 268 lb-ft (363 Nm) at 6,000 RPM. The longitudinally mounted 90-degree unit was stroked by 2mm over its predecessor's 348s engine. Engine components were strengthened and lightened with connecting rods forged in Ti6-Al-4V titanium alloy. Examples built until the 1995 model year used a Bosch Motronic 2.7 engine control unit while those built after 1996 through the end of production used an M5.2 unit. The lubrication system was a dry sump oiling system.
The six-speed manual gearbox used a heat exchanger which warmed the gearbox oil upon startup. Precise gear shifts were courtesy of a rod-driven actuation system. In 1997, a Formula One-style electrohydraulic-operated automated manual paddle-shift transmission was introduced.
The steel monocoque with tubular steel rear sub-frame had a 96.5-inch wheelbase, a width of 75 inches, and 167.3 inches in length. The suspension was independent with unequal-length wishbones, coil springs over gas-filled telescopic shock absorbers with electronic control servos and anti-roll bars. The elegant body was tuned for both form and function, with its aerodynamics perfected through over 1,300 hours of wind-tunnel testing. The seats were wrapped with Connolly leather.
OUR EXAMPLE
This Ferrari was delivered new to Michigan in May 1998 and four years later was relocated to Pennsylvania. In 2017, the car was acquired by an individual in Southern California before being sold 6 years later to a local collection, joining a vast array of special Ferrari’s. It was then sent it for a no expense spared servicing, completed by Ferrari specialists Azael Motorsports in 2025 and at the same time installed a Tubi exhaust. That same year the owner found a meticulously preserved 355 GTS model and decided recently to only keep one. This is a great opportunity to acquire one of the best driving 355’s we have had the pleasure to have used!
