The first 911 called GT3 was born in 1999 as a homologation special for the FIA GT3 sports car racing. The race car went on to be successful, notably scoring class wins at Le Mans, Sebring, and Daytona. It was four years later that, based on the facelift car, a more radical version was introduced, named GT3 RS. This would mark the beginning of a succession of lightweight Porsche’s with the nomenclature GT3 RS. The GT3 RS would benefit from the legendary flat-6 Mezger engine developing 380 hp at 7,400 rpm, mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The RS was very raw, being equipped with several carbon fiber parts such as the front hood, the wing at the back and the side mirrors. It is a race car for the road, unlike the successor models which were more tame for road use. The driving experience could be described as similar to a 993 RS Clubsport, with more power, and improved cornering, basically the whole package. In total, only 682 examples were built between 2003 and 2005, making it an extremely rare encounter, especially in collector condition, as most were used heavily at track-days.

OUR EXAMPLE
Our GT3 RS was delivered new to Porsche Oy AutoCarrera Ab in Helsinki, Finland, finished from factory in Carrara White with red racing stripes. Straight after delivery to the dealer in Finland, the car was brought in the United Kingdom where its first owner would take delivery of it. The car was driven very sparingly, before being passed on to its second owner in the UK in December 2013. In 2015, its third and the last owner bought the car in England in 2015 and exported it to Germany where it would form a part of his large but eclectic Porsche collection. In January 2023, a comprehensive service was undertaken at Porsche Zentrum Stuttgart, leaving no stone unturned and totaling roughly 5,000 Euros. Currently sitting at just over 2,700 kilometers from new, this is probably one of the best preserved and most original 996 GT3RS’ in existence, as only 682 (if which around 540 were LHD) were ever made and most of them saw track use. We believe this is one of the models from the Stuttgart firm that not only drives brilliantly, but also has the most value appreciation potential in the next few years as people start to recognize what an amazing car it is and how rare a good example is. Our car has never seen a track and presents in fully original condition, nearly as immaculate as it was on the day of its delivery. The 996 is accompanied by all its original books incl. its stamped service book, as well as its full set of keys, and a folder full of invoices and documents documenting the car’s history since its first custodian.
