Ferrari

Shown at first in October 1964 at the annual Paris Motor Show the all new Ferrari 275 GTB was an immediate success. Fitted with the Tipo 213 engine producing 280BHP in its 3 carburetor version the 275 shared its 2400mm wheelbase with the iconic 250SWB. The first generation known as „short nose“ are all 2cam engines as the 4cam update was in combination with 1965 shown „long nose“ version. Designed by Pininfarina and built by Carozzeria Scaglietti not a few prefer the short nose design in terms of looks. The 275 is one of Ferraris iconic models from the 60s with ist divers variants also a Le Mans winning model in its top version 275 Competizione.

This steel bodies Ferrari 275 GTB/2 short nose with Chassis number 06601 is an early version ordered in December 1964 by Luigi Chinetti Motors in New York. At a cost of around 7.000 USD paid by bank check the car made its way to its first owner James Alexander of St. Louis in April 1965. Shown in 1974 at the annual Ferrari Club of America Annual Meeting the car resided at Mr. Alexander until 1974 when it was sold to its second owner. Seen at the Ferrari Festival of Birmingham USA in April 1994, Chassis 06601 was then using Alabama license plates and according to Curtis Jones still in ownership of his father in law after purchasing the car from James Alexander in 1974. In 2003 it was offered in the Ferrari Market Letter which have a copy of as a two owners from new car, now red with black leather. Offered by Heritage Classics of Beverly Hills CA.

The car was then sold to Europe and in the hands of Mr. Hubert Bonnet from Belgium. Issued the Ferrari Classiche Book of Authenticity in 2006 Chassis 06601 was a regular entrant in varios prestigious events around Europe. Raced at the Ferrari Shell Historic in 2006 at Spa-Franchorchamps or Le Mans Classic always seeing the checkered flag. Changing hands in 2008 to the fourth owner Christian Chavy a frenchman resident also in Belgium. Mr. Chavy progressed its later race history by participating in the Tour Auto 2009, again Le Mans Classic in 2010, Tour Auto 2011 and some smaller local events until 2014. In the meantime when arriving back in Europe painted in its original colour scheme Chassis #06601 was sold to its fifth and last owner in the south of Germany.

Today this Ferrari 275 GTB/2 Chassis 06601 presents in a wonderful and authentic condition. Never fully restored and with many many original aspects this 275 has a clear and no story history. Matching numbers and colours, certified with the red book by the factory this is car is a perfect addition to any collection of great Ferraris or to use for various events around the globe.
