In 2021 Mercedes Benz decided to introduce an incredibly limited run of just 40 cars for the world, with 24 destined for the USA, of their very special and highly praised AMG GT Black Series with an exclusive GT ‘Project One’ edition. This edition was only available for the select few clients with deposits on the AMG Project One hyper-car. 

In terms of performance, the AMG GT Black series has 140 hp more than the GTR Pro and 80 pounds lighter in weight. As such the fearsome M178 LS2 twin-turbo V-8 engine perhaps best exemplifies this impressive pedigree. Developed exclusively for use in the GT Black Series, it produces a remarkable 730 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. This engine sends its power to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and a limited-slip differential. It is with this and an array of aerodynamics that the AMG GT managed to set the third fastest lap time ever recorded at the Nordschleife, Nurbugring! This unbelievable result puts this GT car amongst some of the world most powerful and exclusive hypercars, and ahead of many others! It is unsurprising given that the car has active aerodynamics, adjustable front wing diffuser and an aero brake on the upper rear spoiler, creating 900 Lbs of downforce at full speed. It also incorporates electronic controlled (from cabin) traction control variable setting switch, together with a host of different driving modes, including race/track mode.

It is believed that the majority of the Project One edition examples were painted Cirrus Silver Metallic that faded to black towards the rear of the car and a closer match to the AMG Project One Hyper-car. The rarer selected color scheme like the example featured here, was dressed in all Obsidian black with green accents. The livery features Mercedes three-pointed stars, said to be hand painted, as well as teal accents inside and out, in a nod to Petronas, Mercedes’ longtime F1 partner.
