MODEL

The icon from Maranello was originally planned as a small production series and immediately managed to be loved by almost every sportscar enthusiast around the globe. When the F40 appeared in 1987, its data was simply breathtaking. 478PS, 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds at a top speed of over 200 mph. All this performance was fitted in a wild and maskuline but never rude carbon fiber dress designed by Pininfarina. Originally it was intended to name the car LeMans, but shortly before the presentation of the last Ferrari, developed under the supervision of the Commendatore himself, the decision was made in favor of the name F40, just to mark Ferrari’s 40th anniversary. A legend was born.

HISTORY

Our Ferrari F40 with chassis number # 89598 is certainly one of the best examples on the market. The car was delivered in Germany via Auto Becker and put into storage immediately after delivery and hardly moved until 2004. Only then the car was exported to England and provided with a second fresh service including new fuel tanks. Chassis #89598 will have an incredible maintenance history in the following years. Although still rarely driven, the car received an inspection almost every year. Bob Houghton, a recognized Ferrari specialist in England, looked after the car from 2006 to 2014. In 2010 the Ferrari Classiche certificate was issued. After the car had spent its time in England from 2004 to 2016 and received 11 inspections and twice new fuel tanks, a German bought the F40 and brought the vehicle back to Germany’s south. The first thing done when arriving back in Germany was a service at the Ferrari dealer shwoing 3.162km. After the car was neither registered in Germany nor really driven a lot, the F40 received another and its last inspection at 3,255km in 2018 by the Ferrari dealership Gohm. With currently 3,320km on its odo, this F40 is one of the best documented F40s with such a low mileage. In addition, the car, being a late 1991 model, has the extremely rare plexiglass sliding windows. In combination with active suspension and Kat you will hardly find a second one. The original invoices for almost every inspections are available and come with the car of course.

Chassis # 89598 ticks almost every box of a collector or enthusiast who does not just want any Ferrari F40, but for whom the best is just good enough. Only 3,320 original kilometers, a comprehensive service history with countless receipts and invoices, the original books and service book, the complete tool bag, the coveted Ferrari Classic certificate and an outstanding general condition lift this F40 as a plexiglass model to something very special on the market.
