HISTORY

The final iteration of the Miura, the SV, featured numerous improvements over the already spectacular P400 S. The SV handling was largely improved, thanks to the revised suspension, which helped to move the „fron end lightness“ which was characteristic of the earlier cars. At the same time the rear body was made slightly wider. Perhaps the most notable changes were done to the engine, which then featured larger carburetors and different cam timing, as they made the SV much more user friendly at lower rpms. With now producing 385 horsepower, the SV boasted incredible performance for its time. A sprint to 100 km/h from standstill took just 5.8 seconds and its top speed was quoted at around 290 km/h.

Our Lamborghini Miura SV Chassis 4946 is a superb late specification example with both the „split-sump“ lubrication system ( which, unlike earlier Miuras, does not force the engine and gearbox to share the same oil) and factory air conditioning. Like many Miuras in this configuration it was originally delivered to the US market, via Modena Racing Company of New York City.

Subsequent owners of the car included Peter Veegers and Paul V.J. Koot. It then became part of a private museum collection in Portugal from which it was acquired under the guidance of Lamborghini Specialist Gary Bobileff of Bobileff Motorcar Company in California.

Mr . Bobileff confirmed that the car was bought in Portugal as a very nice original example that drove extremely well and was very solid and intact. Accordingly, it required mainly a cosmetic restoration and mechanical sorting. So it was respraid to bare metal in ist original colour of Rosso Corsa with golden accents and the interiour was reupholstered in the correct material and colour scheme of Blu. Brakes were rebuilt, the hydraulic system fully serviced (including the clutch master cylinder), all instruments rebuilt, the fuel lines and gas tank replaced (using a new aluminium tank), the front suspension rebuilt and the radiator cleaned. Original engine and gearbox were sorted and tuned as they where already in very fine condition. The already stunnning appearance was completed with correct books and their appropraite pouches as well as it comes with its correct and complete tool kit and a wonderful handcrafted and fitted reproduction luggage set using the same shade of blu leather as the interiour.

Chassis 4946 following achieved „Best Lamborghini“ at the Concorso Italiano’s Miura 50th Anniversary celebration. That the car was able to achieve this award without a full restoration in this field of many stunning Miuras is a testament to its honesty, originality and sympathetic workmanship it has received.

Coming with its very rare tool kit,  books and beautifully fitted luggage set this Lamborghini Miura SV also has a certification from Lamborghini S.p.A. proving retains its original engine number 30680 and its original configuration of Rosso Corsa with Blu Interiour it was delivered in December 1971.

Outstanding original and in stunning condition with its rare and desirable split-sump and air condition configuartion this is a chance  not to be missed  to acquire on of the finest examples on the market today.
