HISTORY

As the successor to the 914, the introduction of the new Porsche 924 was not necessarily to successful at the beginning. Sales were limited and Porsche decided to give the 924 an optical and technical upgrade. Starting with the 924 Turbo, 59 vehicles of the type 924 GTS were produced, of which 44 vehicles were delivered in the standard version and only 15 vehicles in the clubsport version.

With many modifications, the Porsche Motorsport department has created a fascinating motorsport and track tool from the rather comfort focused production vehicle. The power was increased to 270BHP and the weight reduced to 1,060kg, the suspension stiffened and and lowered, the exterior mirrors were styled more areodaynamic and an aluminum roll cage, 6-point belts, a fire extinguisher and an emergency stop switch were installed. Some other specific modifications were the fixed headlights under a plexiglass cover, Lexan sliding windows, a braking system from the 911 Turbo and bucket seats from the 935. All together, the sum of the upgrades led to an insanely light and typical, agile Porsche, which sprints to 100 km/h mastered in just 5.2 seconds. This led to an exorbitant list price of DM 125,000 for the clubsport version.

Our vehicle shown here with the chassis number 030 was delivered new with the German Code specification on July 10, 1981 and registered in Germany. However, as early as April 1982 the car was sold to David Hill from Connecticut and exported to America. At that time, the speedometer showed about 10,000km. In 1988 the car found its way back to Europe and was owned by a Mr. Cutrera from London. A document about an inspection request at the Porsche factory in Zuffenhausen proves Mr. Cutrera’s communication with Zuffenhausen. After Jürgen Limpart from Watford registered the car in 1993, he exported the car to Darmstadt in Germany. In 2006 the Porsche was owned by a Munich collector and then moved to a very large and well-known Porsche collection in Germany. The GTS CS spent a few years there before it is now for sale with us again in Munich.

This is the ultimate GTS Clubsport version, the highest evolution stage of the Porsche 924. Documented in great detail, with numerous documents, the Porsche certificate and the Porsche birth certificate. With an incredibly small number of only 15 vehicles ever built, this model is an enrichment for any Porsche enthusiast or collector with a special eye for the really rare.
